16U Head Coach - Michael Wells

Michael Wells is a Saint Ignatius hockey program alumnus, graduating in 2010.   Coach Wells strives to create an atmosphere in which player development thrives.  He believes that this not only happens through skill refinement and creativity but also, building and nurturing hockey intelligence.  Please contact Coach Wells with any questions.

16U Assistant Coach - Asa Frebes
Coach Frebes will be an Assistant Coach for the 16U team. He grew up in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, West Park. There, he grew up playing a multitude of sports, mainly hockey and attended St. Mark grade school. Coach Frebes is a current alumnus of St. Ignatius High School 2006-2010 where he played Hockey and Rugby. He graduated and played with Coach Wells where they won the State Championship for Ice Cats in 2010. After High School, he then enrolled at Ohio University where he obtained a Bachelors of Sports Management and a minor in Business Administration. This is his third year coaching within the program.

16U Assistant Coach - Brian Holz
Brian Holz ‘07 is entering his 4
th year coaching hockey at Saint Ignatius High School. Holz grew up in Parma and attended Holy Family before attending Saint Ignatius. At Saint Ignatius, Brian played all four years for the Wildcats, where he was named an OHSAA All-State Senior All-Star as well as a Greater Cleveland High Sch
ool Hockey League Senior All-Star. He also played lacrosse, contributed to the yearbook, and was a member of the National Honor Society. After graduating Saint Ignatius, Holz attended The Ohio State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (double concentration in Finance and Accounting) and a minor in Economics. Holz later completed his Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Notre Dame.

15U Goalie Coach - Matt Kovesdy

Coach Kovesdy is entering his first year with the Cleveland Wildcats where he will be assisting with the goaltending and defensive units. He is a proud alumnus of St. Ignatius (2012) and went on to attend Miami University. At Miami, Matt held a variety of leadership positions, played club hockey, and graduated with academic mention. He greatly values the lifelong lessons and relationships that the game has built for him, especially those at St. Ignatius. During the day, Matt works as a corporate & investment real estate strategist.
